Moscow University for the Humanities

Moscow University for the Humanities (MosGU), officially known as Sholokhov Moscow State University for the Humanities (SMSUH), is a humanities education and research institution in Moscow. Its campus is adjacent to historic Kuskovo Park and includes green spaces, cultural facilities and a memorial to faculty and staff who contributed during the Great Patriotic War.

History and memorial

MosGU was established in 1944 as the Central Komsomol School. The university’s transformation from its wartime origins into a modern centre for the humanities is commemorated by a granite memorial near campus. It bears the engraved names of 188 faculty and staff who served during the Great Patriotic War.
