Audiala Solutions Ltd ("Audiala", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Audiala mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our services.
1. Data We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: email address, display name, and preferred language when you create an account.
- Payment information: processed securely through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not store credit card details.
- Support requests: any information you share when contacting us.
- Trip planning signals: votes (♥, 👍, 😐, ✕) on monuments and stops within a trip, trip-level preferences (pace, interests, dietary, budget, free-text notes), and audio-completion events.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, guides played, cities browsed, session duration, and app feature interactions.
- Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version.
- Location data: only when you explicitly grant permission, to show nearby guides and points of interest. Location data is processed on-device and not stored on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Audiala app and services.
- Personalize your experience, such as recommending guides for cities you visit.
- Process subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Send transactional communications (e.g., purchase confirmations, account updates).
- Respond to support inquiries.
- Analyze usage trends to improve our product.
- Comply with legal obligations.
- Rank stops, monuments, and itinerary suggestions to better match your interests, using your in-trip reactions and (with your consent) reactions across past trips.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. How Audiala Learns From Your Reactions
When you tap ♥, 👍, 😐, or ✕ on a monument, save trip preferences, or finish listening to an audio guide, Audiala records that signal so the AI Guide can suggest stops that better match your taste.
By default, your reactions only influence the trip you're currently on. To let your reactions also shape future trips on Audiala, toggle on "Use my Audiala reactions to personalise future trips" in Account → Preferences. You can switch this off any time; nothing is shared between trips when it's off.
Your reactions are visible to the other members of the trip you reacted on (so they know "Marie loved this stop"). They are never visible outside that trip and never sold or shared with third parties.
Audiala may surface a learned preference back to you for confirmation — for example, "We noticed you keep skipping museums. Save this as a preference?" You can save it (which makes it part of your explicit profile, editable like the rest), or dismiss it. We never silently change your saved preferences.
The learning is intentionally bounded: it adjusts which suggestions appear first, but it cannot hide stops you haven't dismissed, override hard constraints (closed venues, ticket-incompatible items), or otherwise restrict what's available to you.
You can:
- Erase your AI personalisation at any time from your Account settings (look for "Reset AI personalisation" — separate from the existing "Reset AI memory" control, which clears profile facts you explicitly asked the AI to remember). Resetting personalisation clears the learned profile and any pending suggestions; your saved preferences and explicit memory are unchanged.
- Export everything Audiala has learned: Account → Data & export → Download my data (JSON; includes your reaction log and current learned profile).
- Delete your account entirely: Account → Danger zone → Delete account. All learned data is removed immediately; the auth account is held for 30 days for recovery and then permanently deleted.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers within the European Union. We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
- Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel.
- Regular security reviews and updates.
Offline guide content downloaded to your device is stored locally and can be deleted at any time by removing the downloaded guide.
5. Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of third-party services to operate Audiala:

Each third-party provider is contractually required to protect your data and may only use it for the specified purpose.
6. Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses strictly necessary cookies to keep navigation working. If you opt in via the cookie banner, we also load two analytics tools:
- PostHog — product usage analytics, EU-hosted, aggregate only.
- Google Analytics 4 — with IP anonymization on and ad personalization off. Google Consent Mode v2 keeps requests denied until you accept.
Neither tool sells your data, serves ads on this site, or builds advertising profiles. Until you accept, both stay off.
Your choice is stored in your browser as audiala.consent.v1 (localStorage) and the first-party cookie audiala_consent (13 months max, SameSite=Lax). You can change it any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer, or by clearing your browser storage.
Our mobile app does not use cookies. Analytics events are anonymized and cannot be linked back to you personally.
7. Your Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and receive a copy.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict processing of your data.
- Port your data to another service in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
For AI personalisation specifically, you can also reset just the learned data without deleting your account from Account → Preferences → Reset AI personalisation.

8. GDPR Compliance
Audiala Solutions Ltd is the data controller for your personal information. Our legal bases for processing are:
- Contract performance: providing the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: improving our product and preventing fraud.
- Consent: where you opt in to optional features such as location access, marketing emails, or cross-trip propagation of your reactions for AI personalisation. Off by default; withdrawable at any time via Account → Preferences.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), your data is processed and stored within the EU. We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA without adequate safeguards.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local Data Protection Authority if you believe your data is being processed unlawfully.
9. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. The schedule below applies once your account is deleted or to ongoing data the system manages automatically:

If you delete your account, we will erase your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records).
10. Children's Privacy
Audiala is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website and updating the effective date above.
